I’m 55 and in full menopause….i am lucky if i sleep 3 hours each night! That’s being generous actually….i sleep for about 20 minutes, up for 45, sleep 20 , and repeat all night! I get up at 4 AM for work. Yay me! 😂 The struggle is terrible 😳

I don’t have a problem sleeping yet. The Zopiclone seems to do the trick. Occasionally I have to pop an OTC sleep aid with it.

Sleep issues, almost exactly what you are experiencing is what I went through with my grandma and grandpa whom both had Alzheimers. Their progression time was different. With the sleep issues, I remember their doctors gave them Diazepam. Now, it worked for my grandma but it didn't help my grandpa. My grandpa was given a different medicine, it was also a Benzodiazapene, called Klonopin I believe. Alongside the medications we were taught to help by lessening visual and audio input after 6PM. So no TV, no music, and they would still try and do their word search books (long term muscle memory) or I would do a puzzle on a table with them. I did most of the work, but it helped keep them calm before actually getting into the bed. Making sure they had eaten by a certain time was important. I purchased them a kind of clock that I could program so it didn't make any sound, but it gave off light that mimicked a sunrise. Just them seeing that in the morning seemed to help with everything else. There was a point where every day was a bit different, but this worked pretty well for 9ish months. 💜

In a local home near us they put the residents in pyjamas in an evening as it helps them sleep at night, as like you said there body clock doesn’t work with dementia. No idea if trying this might help you. My other half (Alzheimer’s) has ,

insomnia is just debilitating, and the feedback loop you experience is so unfair! everyone's giving suggestions, and I don't have any, though I do agree that your original sleep med might be worth the risks considering the risks that not sleeping has in itself. and your hair looks great!

My husband has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and his doctor prescribed a slow release melatonin. It works for him 💖 he still has hallucinations and jolts all night but he doesn’t remember.

Wait…what if you try taking the Zopiclone much earlier? Like at 6 pm or something. Maybe the sleeping pill is just taking a reeeeaaally long time to work.

would your maid doctor be able to prescribe something for sleep ? like something stronger than melatonin bc I take melatonin and it does not help the way I need it too. for you having a terminal thing maybe they will give you something that actually works better.

You are beautiful! I hope you get some sleep. I have early onset dementia and have given up. I don’t brush or curl my hair and I don’t put on makeup anymore. So I admire you for always looking fabulous💕
