Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: Around 1:17 a.m. on April 11, 2024, Officer James Holub patrolled near Main Street and US Route 14 in Crystal Lake. He spotted a 2023 Ford F-150 driver swerving lanes. She seemed to text while heading south on Main Street toward Route 14. He tailed the truck. Soon, he pulled her over near James R. Rakow Road and Pyott Road. The driver turned out to be Lauren Messer. As he talked to her, Officer Holub smelled alcohol. He noticed signs she might be impaired. Lauren couldn't show valid insurance. Another officer joined to help. They asked her to step out of the truck. Suspecting she drove drunk, they wanted her to do sobriety tests. At first, she said no to the tests. They told her arrest would follow. Later, she agreed. They took off the cuffs for the checks. After the tests ended, they offered a breath test. She turned it down. Officers arrested her for DUI. Officer Holub drove her to the Crystal Lake station for booking. There, they read her the motorist warning. She refused a breath sample. Because of that, he got a warrant for blood. With the order in hand, he took her to Mercy Health Hospital. They drew her blood and finished the forms. Then, they let her go until court. She got these tickets at first: -Driving under the influence of alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2)) -Using a phone while driving (625 ILCS 5/12-610.2) -Not staying in lane (625 ILCS 5/11-709) -Driving without insurance (625 ILCS 5/3-707(a)) Blood results showed her level over 0.08. So, they added a ticket for DUI with BAC at 0.08 or higher (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(1)). Years back, on August 26, 2015, Lauren faced another DUI arrest in Crystal Lake.
