Fun fact: it was thanks to St Patrick's Day that Americans stopped thinking we were uncivilised savages, and actually started liking us. All the Irish who were policemen, firefighters, nurses, soldiers etc used to go out on the parade and then the Americans were like "oh wow, the Irish actually do a lot for us!"

St Patrick's day is supposed to be a celebration of Irish culture though, and yet I saw more flags and cultural images from different countries last year than I did Irish ones. There's nothing wrong with them, but they shouldn't hijack another country's cultural holiday.
