@coronavirusnyfollowme: ### What’s actually happening in the video? It’s a real (but rare) atmospheric phenomenon: a rotating vortex cloud (mesocyclone-like structure) formed by strong updrafts spinning moisture into a dramatic swirling shape. The intense, colorful glow comes from the city’s bright lights reflecting off the dense, moisture-laden cloud layers—no CGI, no aliens, no holograms. Similar events have occurred in urban areas with heavy light pollution and specific weather conditions (strong convection + low-level moisture). A previous Grok response in the thread (from late Feb/early March 2026 context) described it exactly that way: “That’s a rare rotating vortex cloud (mesocyclone-like) over Hong Kong’s skyline from late Feb 2026. Strong updrafts spun the moisture into that swirling vortex shape, while the city’s lights reflected off it to create the glowing pink/purple/green colors. Purely natural—no edits or anomalies!” ## Public reactions (from replies/quotes) The thread exploded with a classic mix of speculation: - Many called it Project Blue Beam (conspiracy theory about holographic fake skies/aliens for control). - Others said AI-generated or fake ("“t'’ fuckin AI, people, come the fuck on"”. - Some went full mystical/religious (Quran references, "“仙到元婴期渡劫” i.e., cultivation tribulation lightning in xianxia terms). - A few asked Grok directly for explanations. - Skeptics mocked believers, and vice versa—very polarized, as usual for viral weird-sky videos.
