Or, we memorize the word after hearing someone else read it. That’s what I did.

I had a lot of trouble with there/their/they’re/we’re/were. When I’m writing I have to remind myself like it’s this persons thing so it’s their thing.

I hate when I was in school and asked how to spell something and was told to look it up in dictionary. Well I can't spell it so looking it up makes zero sense. I failed English my whole life. Writing and reading is my personal hell.

I was embarrassed that it took me twice as long to understand stuff that the rest of my classmates instantly picked up on.

I’m 32 and have never been officially diagnosed with dyslexia but I’ve always thought I was dyslexic. School/University was extremely difficult for me. I constantly mix up letters, words and numbers. And while I love to read I feel like I’m an extremely slow reader and have to read things multiple times to actually understand the material. Is there a way for me to maneuver this as an adult?

i would get so angry because i wanted to know the set rules and no teacher would tell me what the rules were. then i would think i knew them and they changed or weren't consistent. mine effects spelling more than reading, but it still makes me angry
