Way off here. Yes, they used AI to re create Randy’s voice via James Dupree who actually sang the song. And some of Nashvilles finest musicians on it. Scotty Emerick was a a writer on it and I can assure you, Suno couldn’t write a lyric so heartfelt to save a life. Is it weird, yes, but it gave Randy a voice again.

Hey man, so I just wanted to jump in here as someone who was quite literally in the room when Randy Travis, Mary Travis and Kyle Lenning, the producer were being interviewed about this project first things first it was 100% produced by the legendary Kyle Lenning, the same person who produced most of Randy’s work throughout his career. While, yes, they did use AI to emulate Randy Travis‘s voice. There is a voice on the track pre-emulation. The voice on that track is a man named James Dupree. I understand being fearful of AI I understand disliking the fact that large record companies are taking advantage of AI, but I really don’t think this situation can be compared to any of the rest first and foremost. Randy isn’t capable of using his voice anymore to sing, he still has a voice and mentally is still there and he agreed to have his voice restored for this song, using artificial intelligence… I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I did want to correct some of the points that just weren’t correct

How else is he supposed to make money? He’s a legacy artist, country music as a whole sure isn’t taking care of him. All these artists name dropping 90s legends for clout and nostalgia should pay into a fund for older artists that are too sick to sing.

I love @Ward Davis, and I hate AI, but I think he is wrong about not having any musicians play on that track or no one writing it. I think AI was only used to emulate Randy’s voice. Pretty sure that musicians recorded their tracks, a guy sang it and they overlayed AI’s emulation of Randy’s voice over the actual vocals. I hate AI “music,” but in this case I’m ok with how the tech was used. Randy can’t sing anymore. The videos of him sitting and listening to what at least sounds like his voice, you could see him light up. I may be wrong about the process used, but I know the song credits have writers and musician’s names who performed and their instruments listed. This, to me at least, was an acceptable use of AI in the arts.
