i’ve heard more consonants typically in dryer climates, more vowels typically in climates with more moister. “more” vowels meaning how often they are used within words compared to consonants, not the total number of vowel sounds in the language

How did you get to the conclusion that the premise proposed requires a conscious effort? Would geographical determinism imply something like a natural selection? Other than that you are correct in pointing to counterexamples to disprove the theory.
