@mzanziorganics: In the beginning, The Cape Flats Forest looked like a collection of humble sticks in the ground. But below the surface, a hidden world of complex roots was being built. Fast forward to year three, and the Miyawaki method is in full effect—explosive, dense growth proving that nature just needs a little time and the right start. One of our biggest observations across the pocket forests we’ve planted in Cape Town is this: most trees may still look like sticks in the ground, even after the first year. But it is at this moment they start to push out new growth at a rapid rate. We cannot see how deep or complex the roots are growing—even trees we thought were dead suddenly shoot out new, resilient trunks and branches from places they dried out. Mulching, watering, and weeding is critical for establishing a self sustaining forest. It’s a lesson in patience and trust. 📍 The Cape Flats Forest @SEED COMMUNITY - Rocklands, Mitchelsplein 🌿 Forest funded by @SUGi 🌿🌳🌿🌳🌿🌳🌿🌳🌿🌳🌿 #MiyawakiMethod #PocketForest #CapeTown #CapeFlats #NatureBasedSolutions
