There isn't enough consequences for bad behaviour or lack of work ethic if you could put it that way. My students have no idea why you need to do a day of theory before undertaking a task that has inherent risks and they have no knowledge of. But they just don't care.

It’s just about who they direct their anger at in the moment. I work at a homeless shelter where people are upset with the rules. They aren’t angry with you, they’re angry with their situation. Same thing with your students. It’s not your fault but they frame you as part of the problem.
