@holistic.le: DM me for 1-1 Skin Support :) Let me first start by saying, if skin cycling works for you, GREAT. But if you’re lost and thinking this is the solution to all your skin problems, I encourage you to think again. Here’s why: Skin cycling is the idea of incorporating two active ingredients at the same time: 1) A chemical exfoliant 2) A retinoid Followed by 1-2 rest nights (with no actives) to support optimal skin texture, tone and skin cell turnover while reaping the benefits of a retinoid. My issue with skin cycling is that not everyone needs both actives. Some skin types could do better with weekly exfoliation, while others could get away with monthly exfoliation or maybe even no exfoliation at all. Skin cycling also encourages the use of two active ingredients at the same time, which can cause unnecessary irritation and consequently, prevent you from tolerating these actives in general and/or cause more breakouts. Lastly, skin cycling doesn’t always allow you to increase the frequency of use of your retinoid for optimal benefits because you’re only using it every 2-3 nights. While this frequency can still provide benefit, it is not ideal because research shows results are best achieved at 3x/week minimum. So who do I think skin cycling is for? -For those with non-reactive, non-problematic “normal skin” -For those who tolerate both a retinoid and chemical exfoliant well already, but struggle to find a routine with these products -For those who don’t find their retinoid alone is enough and may want to try a chemical exfoliant (but even then I’d only start at 1x/week) Overall, I think that skin cycling is too “one-size fits all” for those with specific skin concerns As always, I hope this helps & always listen to your skin ❤️ #skincycling
