@therapistmomunfiltered: Straight-A kids are often the most anxious. High-achieving teens are often praised for being “easy,” “mature,” and “self-sufficient.” But what they really learn is: Don’t need too much. Don’t feel too much. Don’t slow things down. So they carry stress quietly. They suppress emotions. They don’t ask for help — because they don’t want to disappoint anyone. This is why anxiety in high-performing teens often seems to come “out of nowhere.” It didn’t. It was just invisible. Emotional strength isn’t about handling everything alone. It’s about feeling safe enough to be human. If your teen struggles to open up or minimizes their stress, it’s not defiance — it’s adaptation. #parentingtips #highachievingkids #teenanxiety #emotionalhealth #therapistmom
How do u get them to talk? I have tried to talk about anything he likes. As in video games. I ask him all the time. Do u wanna go do things. And it’s always no. I know he is completely shut down.
