I think it would have been prudent to have taken a pause, consulted with nato members and international law experts (maybe on his staff) and come out with a statement similar to this one initially. The initial statement did seem rushed and did leave it open for interpretation. He has since clarified and been more specific in the position, but maybe the initial statement was rushed. This war is a really awful situation.

I fear our media (CBC, CTV, CNN) have decided to strip away any nuance or complexity from issues to make everything one of two answers. Yes or no to helping the US invade Iran. I keep hearing the same phrases from these networks, so you are right, we need to think critically about these things. Carney doesn't mince words, he says exactly what he means (in my opinion).
