TMD is brutal because it’s usually referred pain, but most people spend time only focusing on the joint (like with your theragun). Side note, those devices really are not meant for use on your head, neck, or bones, and at best, ~might~ help with blood flow. The fascia surrounding your jaw is inflamed and needs to be completely released, however. Like most with this dysfunction, the pain is often related to your hips. If I had to guess, you most likely have tension in the opposite hip due to the spiral line. The best thing you can do is release your psoas first (stay with me lol). Without releasing your psoas first, it is almost impossible to release the rest of your fascia. From there, look into videos about jaw release, tongue release, and neck release. Your jaw is muscle guarding and needs to be reset to the safety setting. Combat the inflammation with supplements like bromelain, MSM, omega3, and magnesium. For pain, grab an enzyme like Repair Gold by Enzymedica (life changing). I’ve had TMD for 20 years and this is everything I’ve learned. Back in the day, the only advice was “talk to your dentist.” But the night guards and Botox are bandaids (still resources, just not long term). And peptide therapy before any Botox is best in my opinion! Our bodies really do keep the score, I hope you find relief in your unwinding 💌
