I’ll never forget in my European history class we had an assignment to pick a film and analyze how historically accurate it was and present a clip of it. I chose this one and when Omar Sharif appeared, an Egyptian guy in the class exclaimed “That’s Omar Sharif!!” We just excitedly talked about him, being a talented actor in his own country then one of the first Egyptian actor to break into mainstream Hollywood cinema. His later success in Doctor Zhivago. How important that was to this guy’s family. Lawrence of Arabia has its issues for sure, but it’s a wonderfully made film with talented actors. I think it’s good to walk into films like this with a critical mind, you can analyze so much from them!
