Ngl I definitely gave up on trying to make Japanese friends when I lived in Japan. There are awesome people, but it was hard to find people I genuinely clicked with.

This is what I do. I want for them to ask me to hang out then I say yeah anytime. Then when they make plans I say “ikettara iku” then I ghost them and next time we meet I pretend nothing happened.

It’s not that deep I swear it’s rly hard to make a Japanese friends bcz of the unspoken rules but if u keep trying just give everyone a chance yes it’s possible but very very rare most of them just being polite not easily to approach
