Agar chunks float so the mycelium will grow downward. Your nutrients settle in the bottom of your broth so that’s where you’ll see the most growth. It would make sense that you’d have the growth at the top of your LC with continued growth toward the bottom of the jar where the more nutrient dense LC would be located.

I have no useful advice on this. I haven't attempted making LC yet. I'm sure I will at some point in the future, so I'll keep all this info tucked away.

Do you know the reason, why you dont normally expand LC? Is it best to always go from agar to jar?

I believe it's because when you work it on Agar you actually strengthen the culture not just expanding it
