my landlord is trying to evict me by the 1st, but unfortunately the sec 21 isn't valid and so I won't be leaving. absolutely enraged that the government has given landlords so much time to evict people

So landlords will just sell up and suddenly there's a lack of rental properties. Well done Government 😂

being a landlord means providing homes.
modern landlords don't want to provide homes, they want a dynamic profit vehicle in the style of a holiday lodge or air BnB.
these changes are long overdue.

Imagine having to go to court just to get your own private property back 🙄 Tenants thinking this is a great idea are missing the bigger picture - they’re doing this to deter privately owned properties in the future! They want everything to be owned by corporations.

My current tenants are great but as soon as they move out I’m selling - one more property not available to rent (at below market rates)

Unpopular opinion but HARD truth - this is going to back fire at everyone. Rents will go to the roof and tenancy checks are going to be harder than ever. It’ll make the crisis even worse. And if you think that landlords by selling their properties will ease the problem, think twice and see who’s actually buying the houses… banks. In a few years when power is regained back to landlords because of the crisis, big corporations will be the ones winning. Yeiii, let’s everyone celebrate how we screwed the system!!!

Landlords still have a rough deal when tenants turn problematic. It takes around 6 months to evict, loss of rent and costs to evict can mount up and you’re not getting that money back.

if your going to rent you house out and give someone a home then YES it should be for as long as they need it , not in your terms !! giving someone 8 weeks to move out after years and years of living somewhere is disgusting and causes so much distress.

so all those homeowners who are overseas or working away and would generally rent out their property for a fixed period such as 6, 12 or 18 months, can no longer do so? surely that will have a knock on affect on the number of rentals available and more properties will sit empty for extended periods rather than being able to house a family.

I was issued a section 21 on 2nd Feb. I’ve lived in the house for 16 years. I’ve told him I won’t be leaving in 2nd of April and he will have to get a court order. I’ve been on all of the government deposit schemes and my deposit is not with any of them. Is my section 21 invalid if he didn’t secure my deposit somewhere?

I've been in my house for 21 years. My landlord has just issued an eviction notice to leave by the 15th of May.I think this is happening because of this new law and he claims he wants the house back to live in.

This has meant landlords getting rid of properties. We lost our rented property of 10 years because of it

Thank goodness i have a lovely respectful relationship with the family renting my home. I had to move out to get support for my disability from my family. Not every landlord is a greedy property and money grabber!
