they are constantly repairing walls and stuff at the hospital I work for. so I imagine it's a combination of temperature changes and not having any body fixing the normal wear and tear

I have plaster walls and they're cracking and breaking. The more they're exposed to sunlight, the more they crack.

The most destructive damage in abandoned buildings comes from the roof not maintained.Water is extremely damaging to the interior of the buildings cuz it goes everywhere and rots things from inside out.

The plaster question: The older plaster gets and even paint it does eventually chip and crumble lived in or not. Because those buildings are abandoned no one is replacing it so the plaster/pain just stays chipped

temp control blah blah...but I swear when my mum moved out of the family home after 35 years it started to creak and crack and things started breaking that had worked for decades...soooooo houses being alive kinda makes sense to me
