@cbsnews: The three officers who shot and killed the man who gunned down people in Austin on Sunday will not face a grand jury hearing, and the district attorney said Wednesday that his review of their actions is complete. Travis County DA Jose Garza's comments followed a day of confusion and political backlash over his office's policy of sending all police shootings to a grand jury for review. His statement came on the heels of political backlash, as Republican lawmakers reacted to news that lawyer Douglas O'Connell had been retained by the Austin Police Association to see the three officers through a potential grand jury probe. Are we really still calling George Floyd’s drug overdose a murder?

Every time one human causes the death of another human, it should very at least go to the grand jury. There is no reason cops should have special protection from this.

Im retired blue. I have a question. Is it worth saving people's lives anymore? Or should people have to defend themselves and face district attorneys

Sounds like a good law to me. In this case the grand jury would say there is not enough evidence misuse of force and be dismissed.

I don’t believe a Grand Jury would indict any of them.

The DA here is the absolute worst DA in history… look up his track record. Jose Garza needs to step down.

I think checks and balances exist for the protection of civilians. While this would be an open and closed case, I still believe every incident deserves an investigation.

Could imagine stopping an active shooter and having your DA who works with the police start to put them on trial first without letting the investigation finish.

As an Austinite, the Austin TX government is a complete joke. Not just for this but pretty much all their polices. Remember when they encouraged people to live on the streets then 3 or 4 years later asked tax payers to pay more taxes to fix their Fup.

In Travis County, Williamson County, and every other county in Texas, when an officer involved shooting takes place, it goes to a grand jury. The grand jury then decided to No Bill (not file charges) or True Bill (file charges).
