@drkatiebeleznay: Basic wound care tips from a dermatologist. Lots of misconceptions on this topic and what you learned as a kid likely is not what we now recommend. We are not letting wounds dry out or using hydrogen peroxide. For minor wounds just rinse with water, saline solution or mild soap. Keep moist with Vaseline to heal. #dermatologist #woundcare
Wrong about Neosporin. It is excellent at making sure infection doesn’t set in. Those who are allergic can try something else.

I use mupirocin on my healing wounds, I put it on a nonstick pad over the injury. Is that okay to use?

This new "Use Vaseline instead of Neosporin" idea is spreading in the medical community because of allergies to Neosporin. In fact we know Neosporin is better if used just a day or 2 to hinder the initial infection, but after that vaseline, or even a clean dry bandage is all you need for effective healing.🥰

Nah I don’t care what this lady says…… I got stuff to do. I ain’t got time to be letting some wound be soft and wet and open for weeks. Scab up so I can move on with my life. Also ain’t never had an infection with peroxide, neosporion and air

Let wounds dry out is one that I had to learn the hard way. The scab also does not look nice after it heals. it's counterintuitive but the moist wound environment really does wonders.

Ive had cat bites that I managed to heal with topical antibiotics instead of systemic ones. I don't understand why she's saying not to clean with hydrogen peroxide or use neosporin because I use these to avoid infections for small but serious wounds

You can and should use hydrogen peroxide one time (right after cut) to prevent infection. Just don't use it more than once, because then you are doing more harm than good

There has to be a better product to put onto an open wound than petroleum jelly. 🤔 Also, where do we stand on liquid bandage?
