Is there ever a time when you can’t get a full release?

When I see a physio they often needs to spend 5+ mins per muscle. I would have thought you’d need even longer with a horse as they are bigger stronger. Interesting how it works

I see you mainly use your hands but do you use any tools or equipment to aid the massage?

My gelding has mild bone cysts in his stifles worst one is his right. I got X-rays of this. He heavily compensates with use of his left hind side especially those bicept femoris muscles you mentioned. Under vets instructions he’s ridden to what he’s comfortable with, heavily supped for arthritis and is mostly sound. (We just pleasure ride mainly.) However what can I do to help maintain the tension he gets in that group of muscles? I don’t know know your technique obviously but can I stretch and rub him frequently especially when he goes just a little too hard and comes up sore?
