@abstract_angst: I quit Starbucks. When I started in 2018, I had so much passion for this company and wanted to advance my career. I even wanted to enroll in ASU and work for corporate. Almost exactly 8 years later, I wash my hands of this place. We are overworked; chronically understaffed; expected to know the sequence and procedures for approximately 170,000 different drink combinations while sequence and procedures are constantly being changed with more recipes added; more product added with no additional storage or refrigeration space provided (or something removed in its place); creating more labor-intensive tasks; and stripping us of our identity and individuality, which is what made this company unique and fun, enforcing a rigid new dress code, face piercing limit, and even prohibiting us from wearing face masks for the purpose of covering face piercings. Goodbye forever! ☕️🫶 #baristalife #baristaproblems #starbucks #starbucksbarista #starbuckspartner @Starbucks

They’re trying to make the tenured partners quit so they can save moneys. Also- if you ever want to step down you have to quit and reapply.

It’s crazy too. I got my first write up in the 5+ years I’ve been there.

I’m staying cuz I’m locked in for the ASU benefit…I thought I had to stay til I graduate…turns out we just have to stay until the last semester is paid so I can leave 4 months earlier than I thought

My tinfoil hat theory is that they have a metric in mind for tenured employee turnover that they are trying to hit. I think once they do they will get rid of burrito boy and start walking back some of his ridiculous policies. They can't afford the pay scales that they established and made it our problem.

Because why do we need ten million different macha drinks in all of these different things? When we were supposed to have a more simplified menu

The dress code changes made me angry and I don't even work there. I hope the new job is so much better!

You hit the nail on the head here. It’s easier for them to create silly new easy to fix problems then actually fix real problems that take brainstorming.

I recently made the mistake of going back to sbux and literally ~instantly~ regretted it, before I ever even got on the floor I regretted it.

Eight years and all of a sudden written up twice in a few months. Left my pay, benefits and all that last year because my mental health was just terrible and my health was actually paying for it. I left for a smaller business and no it doesn’t offer benefits but my mental and physical health is so much better and my pay is almost the same. I was scared at first about giving up benefits but I don’t regret a thing now

7 years and a manager left in December and it’s the best thing I ever did! They way they treat employees and they want managers to treat baristas and ssvs no thanks! I won’t be apart of that! Good for you! Best thing I did was leave, mental health ♥️

I just did the same thing. The good benefits don’t outweigh respect for your employees.

As a 185 partner, it’s just getting worse and worse. They don’t care about what we want at all.
