Honestly I thought the father should have just moved to Perth. Back then we had such a huge demand for builders he would have had plenty of work and actually spent significant time with his child. The house in Margaret river could have served as an air BnB and vacation home. Although the interim decision was not fair, he made the situation worse by being stubborn, digging his heels in and continuing to insist that she must move back. He was never going to win that argument and it cost him years with his child.

Family court is against all fathers and you can’t prove me wrong. I went through it for 4 years spending $80K while she got free lawyers. I sat through many other hearings and even when the mother was visibly on dr**s the judge sided with the mother 😡

I bet if the father took the daughter without the permission of the mother, in the same way, Mum took the daughter in the first place, the Dad would not go anywhere near winning, the adverse reaction to that would be much worse. This is what’s wrong with our courts. The mother can do anything, lie, manipulate, do what she wants, and still win the Case how very disgusting. There are no words.

Family law courts are not like other courts. Fairness (substantive justice) is a secondary goal. The welfare of the child is primary. Although it’s clear the dad got ripped off here the court had to decide what was best for the child. Unfortunately this can lead to precedents that encourage bad behaviour but it’s just how it is
