I don’t think science moves slowly. It took humanity thousands of years to go from stone tools to bronze, but only about 200 years to go from the steam engine to nuclear power. Progress is actually speeding up

What if we scaled it up, by like a lot, so we could use gravity instead of lasers. Then aimed some sort of photovoltaics at it instead of steam and turbines.
