Active LDS here! A lot of other churches outside the LDS faith aren’t as family focused, they attract people who might not have large families or people who don’t have family members who are also Christian! They go to church to worship, bc they might not be as likely to worship in their homes the way LDS people do! (There are also a TON of LDS people who value the worship and connection they find at church bc they might not have idea family and home situations)

i’m catholic and we mainly go to church to receive holy communion (Eucharist) which we believe to be the actual presence of Jesus Christ. We also go to just get a deeper connection to God.

You were raised in Mormonism, that’s the religious language you speak. When you go elsewhere, you understand some words but don’t understand the conversation. You’ve been taught that you are chosen and are better than others who don’t speak Mormon.

I’m atheist. But let’s think of this logically. Why do Mormons go to church? To be with like-minded people and have a sense of community while fulfilling their spiritual needs. Any church can fulfill those human needs, not just the Mormon church.

Hey! I'm exmo. I've been to mega churches as well as small churches of differing denominations since leaving the LDS church. I wouldn't say you "have" to attend a service, but the Bible makes clear that followers of Christ should have community with one another. I attend church to learn more about the Bible, to take communion and to be part of a church family. The Bible also tells us that faith in Jesus Christ is what is necessary for our salvation. I won't slander the LDS church or talk badly about it, but I'd encourage you to check out a different type of Christian church and maybe it might make more sense. If you're in Utah- specifically the salt lake valley I have one I could recommend. 😊

Hebrews 10:25 tells us to gather and to encourage one another and never to forsake the assembling. Also, as we see any Ephesians chapter 4. God gives leadership to teach and interpret. The Scriptures. And to take care of the flock. There’s a lot of meaning and depth to it.
