Because of their size, they are typically the dominant partner in the pair and will often take charge of the territory. What makes this even more fascinating is the role reversal when it comes to parenting. After the female lays her enormous egg (the largest egg relative to body size of any bird in the world), the male usually takes over most of the incubation duties. He can spend up to 70–80 days sitting on the egg.
