"before we shook hands with the devil and invented whiteness" is one of my new favorite phrases

They weren't white because white people weren't invented yet.

as an almost history teacher and now anthropologist working towards a doctorate with a focus on ancient Iberia this is everyone's official reminder that race in the way that we think of it today was a concept invented by Spain and Portugal as a way to trace bloodlines back to Iberia and have a higher social status. This is also why many Spanish families have several last names - they're tracing descent. There were of course other compounding factors in Europe at the time that pushed global culture towards the concept of race as we know it today but there is a very strong argument to be made that without Spain and Portugal it wouldn't have happened the way it did. Also, without their beef and the Catholic Church we wouldn't have had chattel slavery, but that's a conversation for a different day. (I also say this as a second generation Portuguese descendant)

Pale skin evolved in Europe some time between 3000 and 12000 years ago. Europeans 40,000 years ago had very dark brown/black skin.

the point we should be taking about the proto writing evidence is that our species had the capability to do it even earlier than we previously thought, so we should be looking at other sites around the world to see where else it may have independently started

Also also, the fact that this might be the earliest proto-writing we've discovered so far does not in any way, shape, or form mean that it was the first proto-writing. The vast majority of things made by every culture ever have been wholly destroyed and no longer exist. The vast majority of the rest are still buried somewhere. And we also know that proto-writing can look like a lot of different things (e.g., knotted rope), so we might not even know it when we see it.

And just because this is the earliest example we’ve found, it doesn’t mean it was the first. There could have been others, so far lost to time.

You(all the people of today) are GENEALOGICALLY related to everyone from 50k years ago. That means nobody has special claim to these grandmothers (not by virtue of geography or physical similarity)

I take it as evidence that humans as a species have always been brilliant. Personally I doubt that IQ has changed much for tens of thousands of years. Humans 50,000 years ago probably had Aristotles, Platos, Einsteins and Tzus.

Not only did we not invent whiteness as a concept at that point. THOSE PEOPLE WHERE NOT WHITE! White skin is younger than this proto writing

my brain just latched onto "saddly." it's an adverb meaning "in a saddle-like fashion" and I refuse to be told otherwise.
supperior, in turn, is a noun meaning "better dinner," and amaizing is an exclamation made when you see corn (a big lump with knobs). obviously.

In addition to all your excellent points, those people were almost certainly not “white” anyway. They most likely had dark skin, as it’s estimated that Europeans only developed light skin some 5,000 or so years ago. So this is definitely not supportive of white supremacy.

Generally, the idea of cultural continuity from today to the ancient and, in this case, prehistoric world, is a white supremacist myth in its own right.

the genetic code for melanin deficiency evolved in hominids at least 10k years AFTER that culture was likely extinct.
