@drjohnnyhadac: My experience in the ICU as a Family Medicine resident. The ICU is one of the most intense and emotional places in medicine. Every day you see how fragile life can be. Families are going through some of the hardest moments of their lives, and being there to care for them and their loved ones is something I do not take lightly. Moments like these remind me why I chose medicine in the first place. I truly believe this is why I was placed on this earth. To serve, to care for people in their most difficult moments, and to help families navigate the uncertainty that comes with serious illness. I feel incredibly blessed to be a physician and to have the opportunity to do this work. One last board exam in one month. Then on to my next rotation: OBGYN. Grateful for the journey. Grateful for the patients. Grateful to be a doctor. #doctor #residency #medicine #familymedicine #fyp

I would be so upset if someone I cared about was going to die and the person who was supposed to be using science and medicine to keep them alive started talking to me about their god.

I’ve worked in critical care for going on 7 years as an RN, it’s definitely not for everyone. I love the interdisciplinary teamwork though!

I’m an occupational therapist working in a trauma/cardiac/medical ICU. It is a very difficult setting. Maybe the 2nd hardest in the hospital only 2nd to the NICU.

If I were a patient being treated by you, or you were the doctor of a family member, I would feel such peace knowing you would pray for or with me. God bless you Dr Johnny. Best wishes on your next rotation!

People that have faith struggle with death, but believe in heaven and an afterlife. For people with no faith, death is game over. 🙏

I was an inpatient hospice and palliative care social worker. I was a part of a lot of these powerful conversations. I loved working icu/palliative/hospice and it truly made me understand why conversations about death with my family was super important prior to anything critical happening.
