I have to disagree with the first point, as an English teacher in China (daycare/kindergarten) theres probably 2 kids in this whole school that has their parents looking after them. Most of them all have ayis and when you ask a parent something they usually know nothing about their kids because the ayis takes care of them 100%😅😅 I dont think its looked down upon at all. Since this is a country heavily focused and money and status I think having a nanny is part of that

My MIL is Chinese, she really freaks out when we go to the playground abroad. For two reasons: the sun and how dirty it is. So probably why play areas are all inside in China 😂

i think the daycare thing is a southern thing, the northeast in more industrialized and urbanized very early compared to the rest of China, so it is just a norm

I live in Korea and have an almost 4yo, it’s amazing how wildly different things are here despite it being so close. I had (wrongly) assumed things would be similar for most East Asian countries when it comes to stuff like this. Very interesting!
