During the summer season (typically from late May until mid-October), traffic is restricted to help reduce congestion on this famously narrow road. 🚗 Uphill from Kotor to Njeguši: 08:00–14:00 ⛔ No entry in either direction: 14:00–15:00 🚗 Downhill from Njeguši to Kotor: 15:00–19:00 🚗 Both directions allowed: 19:00–08:00 Honestly, I’m fully behind this rule. The last thing I want is coming face-to-face with a giant coach full of tourists around a blind hairpin bend while I’m trying not to stare at the 1,000-metre drop beside me! 😳 If you’re planning a Montenegro road trip, make sure you time your drive properly. The views from the numbered switchbacks above Kotor are some of the best in the Balkans and worth every nerve-wracking corner.
