That’s a wrap April 16th, 2026. Our first full day on the Ha Giang Loop. Four hours. Fifty-five kilometers. And wow… absolutely stunning. Vietnam! You are something else. We’ve already spent four months in Southeast Asia, with two and a half of those months in Vietnam alone… and somehow, the Lord just keeps revealing more. More beauty. More wonder. More moments that make you pause and just take it in. And today… felt different. From the moment we started riding, I played constant praise and worship to our Heavenly Father, to the Lord Jesus Christ. And I’m telling you… I could feel The Holy Spirit. Before we started, I prayed for a hedge of protection over us, over our ride, over every turn, every curve, every kilometer asking the Lord to keep us safe. And throughout the journey, there was just this deep peace....we were covered. Now let’s be real the Ha Giang Loop is no joke. It’s fun. It’s exhilarating. But there is risk. This isn’t a casual Sunday scooter ride. Also I thought we’d be using all our warm gear. Lol It is HOT. Like… “why am I wearing anything at all” hot. You start the ride thinking, “Okay, light jacket, safety first.” Thirty minutes later? You’re questioning every life decision that led you to sleeves. (No, you cannot ride the Ha Giang Loop in a bikini… unfortunately.) And let me say this to anyone thinking of doing the loop..... Wear. Your. PPE. I don’t care if it feels like 40 degrees. I don’t care if you’re sweating. Kneepads. Shin guards. Proper gear. You want it! It’s not about comfort it’s about walking away in one piece. We packed light backpacks only. And here’s the part that still has me like wow… We didn’t even have to carry them. Our private guide carried our backpacks for us the entire time. The level of care...Just felt so… covered and provided for in every little way. Now let’s talk about something important... We are not doing the easy rider option. And respectfully… I stand by that decision. 😅 These bikes are small. You are very close to the driver. And I’m sorry but being pressed up against a random guy for hours? Absolutely not. I’ll take my man, thank you very much. I’m so grateful we’re doing this together building real, core memories. Now here’s where God really showed off… When I booked with Authentic Ha Giang Tours, they told me groups could be up to 8 people max. I mentally prepared for at least 5–8 plus drivers...It’s just us and our guide. That’s it. No party crowd. No chaos. No drunk 20-year-olds falling in love with their easy riders halfway through the loop. 😂 Our guide? 26 years of riding experience. Fluent English. Has led multiple 30-day tours across all of Vietnam. And the company? Solid. Professional. They even offer jeep tours but we wanted the full motorcycle experience. Now one thing to note because my man is self-driving & only has a Canadian motorcycle license, we did have to pay a fee. It was 2.5 million VND (about $139 CAD) a one-time fee. They take your picture, give you a document, and that basically covers you for the entire loop. Every checkpoint you pass through, you just show the paper and keep moving. And yes they are serious about enforcement out here. We’ve already seen breathalyzers being done on the loop. So if you’re thinking about partying the night before… this is not the place to be careless. You can’t get drunk and then hop on a bike because if you blow over? The fines are no joke. Rumors say 11 million VND around $610 CAD. That’ll humble you real quick. Again these roads are beautiful… but they demand respect. And the food?! I fully expected... rice and soy sauce…Nope. We had feasts. Vegetables, fruit, meat plates. Honestly, it was borderline embarrassing how much food was on the table for just three of us. We tried, but we physically could not finish it. So yeah… day one complete.
