I voted for her, but I don’t understand why no one mentions the fact that she got in the race four months late and reportedly had a weak ground game. Like no one is factoring that and they’re just calling Tslerico voters racist. Wha?

People were saying she was cheated out of Dallas. Dallas would’ve needed triple the amount of votes that continued the trend of 60/40 in her favor to close the gap. She just didn’t have a campaign that was good. She played two areas, anti-trump and identity politics. It didn’t work.

Crockett's loss reminds me of Hillary's loss in 2008 Dem primary election. Hillary had name recognition, more years of experience & qualifications (Obama, despite being qualified, was the less qualified candidate), but Obama had better campaigning, better message, and was better on policy (ex his vote against Iraq war)

I'm part of a local Democratic group here in Texas. We've been aware of James for a while now because he's been working on issues in the state. We were all aware of Jasmine mainly because of what she said to MTG. I would say that our group was about a 60/40 split in favor of James with all of us vowing that we would fight for whoever won. zero animosity.

When she jumped into the race in January, shed 94% name recognition in Texas and he had 80%. The latter shows just how much work he had already done before she jumped in.

I appreciate your analysis and I think you’re right about the bad or lack of campaign strategy. I guess part of me just saw that as who she is. Someone who fights, makes noise, gets attention, and energizes people on her side. I think her attempts at going for the middle would fall flat. I also think JT is a special politician so I sort of expected him to win. She’s young and has made a name for herself but happens to be in a state with one of the brightest emerging stars. Hopefully he wins and she can challenge for the other seat next time but I think he’s really our only shot at a Texas senate seat.

it is hard for me to think she did very badly given the incredibly high turn out. I think both got a lot of people excited based on vote turn out. I think a lot of people need to take their time to grieve and realize the future can be bright for her

I’m from central Texas. I’d heard her name but she’s not my rep, so I knew nothing else about her. I couldn’t find any of her policy positions and if she advertised, it never reached me. Talerico is well known around here.

Question did Crockett have flyers mailed out? I live in the DFW area. I am actually in the last red republican metropolitan city in TX. I received one that I thought was for republicans until I opened it and it was for Talarico. Talarico's was the only democratic flyer I received. I received plenty from the Republican candidates.

Roy Cooper didnt have any state reps running against him, which actually bolsters your point further. He essentially cleared the field. The one former US Rep that was running dropped out when Cooper joined.

Don't Huffines is going to be an excellent example of this. Hus family had carrots and everyone in N texas has heard "Huffines has it!!" commercials. So the literal owner of horror ranch won his primary hand over fist.
