@editsbykwyn: Residential schools in Canada were made to assimilate all indigenous cultures to try to make “white Canada “ real, the watermark I put is my name, the words at the end are I wanna go home. { FOUND ON WIKIPEDIA, WHAT IS SAID HERE IS NOT A RE-ENACTMENT OF MY STANCE BUT THE TRUTH OF WHY IT HAS HAPPENED. - The Canadian Indian residential school system[a] was a network of boarding schools for Indigenous peoples.[b] The network was funded by the Canadian government's Department of Indian Affairs and administered by various Christian churches. The school system was created as a civilizing mission to isolate Indigenous children from the influence of their own culture and religion in order to assimilate them into the dominant Euro-Canadian culture.[4][5][6]: 42 [7] Despite current views that might define the system of residential schools as racist or genocidal, many scholars contend that they were seen as progressive at the time, a form of state intervention.[8]- all on Wikipedia. } #indigenous #canada #activism #residentialschool #fyp

No amount of text could speak the trauma, no amount of stories can change the trauma, no amount of money can make the people silent, no amount of time can change the hurt in our blood, no amount of reconciliation can fix systemic damage and failures Canada has given the indigenous peoples of it, what we can do is focus on today, fighting for our

There is so much generational trauma from these residential schools that indigenous people in Canada have the highest rate of suicide and some scientists think due to the drinking problems many have obtained from this trauma their genes are changing to be more resistant to alcohol.

My grandparents were sent there, a train ride away so they couldn’t run home and my aunts, uncles and mom were sent to the day schools. My mom always tells me how thankful she is that we were never sent there because we were born after the last one closed. I don’t know my family’s stories but we all know the truth.

I feel so much grief for the children and their families and so much hate for the church and the colonisers for what they have done to indigenous people all over the world and I always try to help anyone regardless of their ethnicity because in reality we're all just stardust and why should I be mean to anybody because their skin and features are different it is literally the way their bodies adapted to the places they live in and I find it so beautiful that humans are able to adapt to so many things. I never understood racism and never will
