Confidently misleading caption. The Baikal seal is the only seal species that lives entirely in freshwater, but it is not the only seal that lives exclusively in freshwater. The Saimaa ringed seal and the Ladoga seal have been isolated in freshwater for thousands of years. This is not a unique only freshwater seal situation. It is simply the only case at the species level. The distinction matters. The footage is interesting, but the biology is oversimplified, especially when referencing National Geographic.
