That and when you think you have your entire toolbox out, you hang an aftermarket part that uses yet another size you don’t have out 😁

The engineers learned that in the newer models. They have 17x 10mm bolts to take out just to change a control arm.

I have always said that the folks that design/ engineer these vehicles should have to work on them for two years before they get their degree!

Probably parts bin engineering. The specific parts were possibly designed at different times for different models that originally had more of the same size bolts. For whatever reason, whenever a specific vehicle was designed, the engineers preferred specific bolts. However, they also incorporated existing parts which were designed to use different bolt sizes.

It’s all about use of assembly on the assembly line. Nothing is about repair. It’s all about cost.

That and they are always too long, u could proly shave a couple hundred pounds off a car or truck if they would shorten the bolts

More bill time at stealerships. Pay dealer for tech walking while tech gets chewed out for walking around shop. Stealership owner has to pay for his “corporate jet” some how.

I love your videos. I sell automotive parts for a living and I have never physically worked on them. so I enjoy videos of up close and personal mechanics

There's a very good reason they do that in certain cases where safety is concerned.

Engineering at its finest. I like when there a bolt you need out that was put in on production line that can’t be removed without a complete dissection of whole dam chassis
