Why would you stop anyway? The only jurisdiction they have is over probationers, not general public

Yes, probation officers can stop a civilian, especially if they are a certified peace officer (as in California), possess a warrant, or are conducting a authorized check on a probationer who is with that civilian. They can conduct traffic stops, searches, and arrests if they have reasonable suspicion or legal authority
