As someone with PCOS my weight did not cause my PCOS. PCOS is what caused my weight gain.

Drs telling me my weight was why I couldn’t get pregnant is why we missed a 40cm mass on my ovary that had been growing for literal years. Got it removed in May and conceived in September… sometimes (often) obesity is a SYMPTOM of a bigger issues and I will die on this hill

Thank you for this take. It also didn’t take into account the variety of things that impact weight, and assuming health based on size is a narrow view at best.

My PCOS caused my weight gain and my infertility. My weight did not cause my PCOS or my infertility. I weighed well over 200 pounds when I got pregnant, and I’m not a tall person. My doctors were, luckily, non judgmental about my weight.

I have insulin resistance PCOS. My weight is a symptom of the PCOS that I have. There’s no amount of willpower or working out that will fix my PCOS.

I have pcos, a thyroid condition, and blood clotting disorder but my body just didn’t do what it was supposed to do even after working out for years I never lost weight and I’m healthy per my bloodwork and doctor. I’m not 8.5 weeks pregnant on my own!

When we started exploring IVf, they mentioned I should probably take 6 months to lose weight (said to get a GLP-1), then come back. A month later, I got pregnant naturally (and ended up losing weight naturally while pregnant lol)

I found that content creator had a lot of anger towards her doctors. It’s fair to find solutions else where but not fair to blame all clinics. The one thing I truly appreciated from my clinic was their honesty that my weight was not an issue and that women at any weight can get pregnant. People just need something to cling onto that gives them an answer or hope no matter what it is 🤷♀️

Wow, the algorithm did its job. I wrote probably 4 responses to that creator’s story and deleted them all. Most were out of anger or education she wouldn’t be open to. As a woman with PCOS, I was gutted. Where was the nuance? And if you have to start with “how do we say this without offending” that’s a red flag. Thank God I got pregnant without the burden of fertility treatments, what a dang privilege!! That happened because folks like you, good drs, RD’s, and other women with PCOS taught me over years how to love and care for my body, mind and soul. Not to just try and shrink myself. Her message is not motivating. I agree it’s truly so sad!

My clinic told me my weight wasn’t my problem. I also have PCOS we did ivf at age 36 after 4 losses. I was told by my doctor to expect 1 normal embryo we ended up with 11 pgta tested normal embryos did 1 FET our son is almost 11 months old.

Spent two years with a fertility clinic that blamed my weight. Changed clinics and found one who didn’t harp on my weight. I am currently 28 weeks. Don’t let anyone blame or shame you. Don’t give up!

I lost 30+ pounds and wasn’t getting pregnant. Go depressed. Gained 20 lbs, boom. Pregnant. Lost weight again. Got depressed again. Gained 20 lbs. boom. Pregnant again. Every time I got pregnant I was 220.

I had to do IVF because of a genetic condition but literature provided from various consults stated weight limits, this didn’t apply to me but I feel like some clinics pride themselves more on their success rates and deny people based on a visual of whether or not they’d be a successful candidate or not. I really appreciate your perspective because it really is so distressing that we are always blaming women for things that are usually out of anyone’s control.

I lost over 140 pounds about 14 years ago never got pregnant. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2021 I got pregnant naturally in 2023 and I’m pregnant now. No IVF no special treatments just me and my husband. I forgot to add I gained some of that weight back before getting pregnant both times. 🥰
