He can’t self soothe . Lay him in his own room and bed and let him go to sleep

It’s not your fault! You are meeting your baby where he is. He is still a baby momma. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself.

You know what I like about this lady?? She admits she caused the contact nap situation. Good for her attempting to correct it. Those who say "i have no problem with our contact naps", obviously don't have ANYTHING ELSE to do. All 3 of mine slept in their cribs in their nurseries starting the 1st night home from the hospital AND all naps. I had a job, a big house and husband that also needed me.

They make weighted stuffed animals. I got mine from target for my son. It feels like someone’s next to him and he sleeps great.

This was a great first step! ❤️Gradually reducing intervention can be so helpful. Your ped is absolutely right! We transition through sleep cycles every 45-60 minutes, so at that 40 minute mark, he woke briefly and saw his surroundings were mostly the same, which allowed him to start the next sleep cycle 🙌🏼Over the coming days, try slowly reducing the rocking and laying down at just a bit more awake in the bed. You’ve got this! Nap training isn’t all or nothing- there’s always a happy medium to be found!

You already know the answer that this is not OK! Listen to your doctor, which I’m sure is saying to let him cry.

Sleep training - in his own bed. That’s what I would and did do. You are right though… this is your little boy and you do what works best for you.

Here’s your light at the end of the tunnel. I nursed to sleep, contact napped. I STILL rock him to sleep and transfer to his crib. he’s 2y4m and he sleeps through now (most nights unless he’s sick) and naps by himself for 2 hours. This started as he got closer to 2

Sleep training changed my life. Moms deserve rest and breaks too. She now sleeps two hours plus twice a day and I have time to myself.

I learned this lesson the hard way with my first, I had to hold him for naps and night time sleep and it was not safe mentally or literally 😭 with my second I put her down to sleep since day 1 which was sad but now I actually have autonomy.

He didn’t put himself back to sleep because that’s not the way he fell asleep originally. The state he went to sleep in was being rocked in your arms. Wakes up in a bed, alone. That’s what makes him more alert and no longer continues the nap. If he went to sleep on his own, waking up on his own wouldn’t be so alarming. Some kids can be rocked and laid down and they are fine - he is not. Listen to your pediatrician. Also make the room completely dark. BE CONSISTENT! EVERY. SINGLE. DAY!

My now 14 month old would only do contact naps for the longest time. Was never the best sleeper. Still til this day he has a minimum of 1 wake up a night and up to like 4-6 lol and needs to be rocked back to sleep. We started crib naps around 9-10mo old and now he only takes naps in his crib unless he’s sick he does like contact naps. Start with transitioning with naps then add bedtime with the crib! We also only do one nap a day about 2-2.5 hours.
