This is the true end to the "red ribbon army" arc for me. Goku begins the Red Ribbon Army arc looking for the 4 star dragon ball to remember his grandpa. Then when he has it, he resolves to find the rest to bring back Bora, potentially giving up his Grandpa's ball. Then in his quest to bring back Bora he finds... his grandpa. It's such a good resolution.

The Title :
He has such a bright eyed outlook on life that you forget that his upbringing is actually quite sad. So to see some of that unexplored sadness come out in real time hits hard. Even then, he doesn’t linger on it, and comes out happy again and even more determined.

I like to think that the goodbye wasn’t harder for Goku cuz he saw this time with his Grandpa as a gift. That mentality helped me during the loss of loved ones. Their time with us was a gift.

It hits hard "just" reading it, such a joy to see how Toriyama was able to show the joy of Goku seeing his grandpa again, in the end he's still a kid. Watch the anime scene if you can but you're gonna cry a lot 🥲😉

tears are more powerful when they come from such a positive and pure character who you never see cry. like if Bulma cries it doesn't matter much, you see her cry and whine quite a lot, but Goku is a champion of being undeterred in happiness. so when he cries.... you know a very special wall was just broken revealing this quite sadness hes kept to himself alone this whole time.
