When looking up images on google you can filter it to before certain dates. Before 2021-2020 is usually a safe bet because it was before it was really a thing. Not great if you’re looking for something more recent, but for stuff like “a map of the us” or “a squirrel” it definitely works.

pretty sure Google has been pushing ai images to the top, wouldn't be surprised if it even generated images from searches just to show more results 🙄

The thing is that a lot of the open source stuff Google has attributed to big sites like Pinterest and facebook. So to get leverage in the image search you need a unique looking map. Colours different and even the words being different will help it rank. Sad but true. I have been and seo for 25 years or so. Welcome to my world
