@thedrewlynch: I think one of the hardest things about stand-up is separating the feelings from the job. Sometimes even we forget that we’re human, and that we’re all doing the best we can to push the painful parts aside, in order to make ourselves feel worthy again through self-expression. Every major life event I’ve ever had I went through the process of writing and talking about it onstage. When I stuttered, I made jokes. When my dad passed, I made jokes. And now… I guess it starts all over again. I had to read it from my laptop because saying the words somehow still feels so foreign. But that’s kind of how this always goes. And every time you guys give me the space to be me and fail, it feels a little less impossible to get back up and try again. #divorce #standup #comedy
