This is me about one hour after endometriosis excision surgery. What was supposed to be a simple 30-minute procedure turned into almost two hours. That’s the thing about endometriosis… you often don’t know the full extent until a surgeon is actually inside your body removing the disease. And yes, they weren’t lying when they warned me: that first pee after surgery is a doozy. Because when surgeries run longer than expected, sometimes that means a catheter. This is the part people don’t talk about. The pain. The vulnerability. The reality of living with a disease that affects millions of women but still doesn’t get the awareness, research, or funding it deserves. So if this video makes you uncomfortable… sit with that. Because for many of us, this isn’t a moment. I had an exploratory laparotomy five months ago… I was in so much pain afterwards, they tried to make me sit up and stand and when I said I couldn’t they tried to make me anyway and didn’t stop until I screamed. I was in so much pain that I was on a mix of ibuprofen, Tylenol, toradol, oxycodone, and morphine all at once for the first two days afterwards.

My mom would tell me to get over myself. She has told me that “endo cannot be that bad, so many women have it” so I have never been allowed to show my pain. I’m so very sorry you’re going through this.
