@jessijeanhome: what other important money questions / convos should couples have? we’re 10 years in and *still* a huge work in progress in this area of our life…sharing this type of content openly b/c it’s my favorite to watch and it’s helped me learn so much. #PersonalFinance
How early should this conversation be had? at the beginning or a year into the relationship? I don't want to come off too strong on money

I would also add to talk about investments, talk about the minimum amount allowed to be spent for holidays {Christmas, Childs birthday, etc}, how much can you spend without discussing it first, and lay out your wills as well.

Terry | Toddler Coach :
Yes! That’s why it’s so important to stay on the same page and have honest, tough conversations about expectations. If both partners are working and you decide to keep separate bank accounts, bills shouldn’t automatically be split 50/50. A more realistic approach is to contribute based on each person’s income percentage. When couples understand this, it often reduces resentment and fosters a stronger sense of teamwork.

I remember before getting married we exchanged credit reports and 2 years of bank statements I thought it was a bit much when she suggested it but it help us see a lot about each other and money

Love this video! Another great topic is for us was about accounts. Do we have a joint account for mutual things (travel, home improvement) that we each contribute to with our own personal accounts OR is everything just in one account?

I guess a partner whose financial goals are drastically different from yours is the biggest anchor. On the contrary, you feel like you are able to fly with the one who supports your goals and contributes equally!

Number 3 is talked about prior to even talking about engagement. Or even more of these should be honestly
