This is so intertwined with all these people posting “I don’t even look Hispanic/ nobody believes I’m Mexican” 🫠

Growing up I always got compared to my cousins who were lighter skin tones. I was always made fun of for being the darkest. I don’t think it’s right what she said but I understand because people are treated differently in my experience.

My son was born “darker” than my daughter. You could only imagine how many horrible comments we got towards his skin tone. Made me cry especially being postpartum, because why is that even a thing?

This!! I grew up compared to my sister by our own family growing up and even as a child it felt so wrong. I couldn’t comprehend what was happening but I felt so uncomfortable. I was light skinned even as a baby I had light brown hair and my sister was a darker complexion dark hair. I’d always get praised and my sister nothing. Mind you my sister is the absolute prettiest girl i know and the smartest! She was that girl I always grew up looking up to her!! So I think as I got older I dislike so much how the world or better yet our own tias and Tio’s could say such things, bc in my eyes she’s was my world and the best. In hs I rebelled lol and I dyed my hair black and started tanning and the world freaked and fam was like what are you goth lol I was like no I just don’t wanted to change my style. I think this is beautiful too. Now we are grown and senoras!! She has a family and her husband is white and her son looks white blonde blue eyes and it’s such irony bc they always gave her a hard time. Not that she cared but I always cared for her bc again in my eyes I couldn’t understand how they didn’t se the beauty I saw. The irony continues lol again I believe all colors are beautiful and my bf is black. So the irony is my children o am aware will probably be black-mixed and I can’t wait to raise them to hear how beautiful they are. I always tell my man words of affirmation the world says you don’t have the good hair but I love it. And I am so ready to change the narrative and teach my children’s to love themselves. Colorism is wrong.

I’m not Hispanic but my husband is and I had to tell him about this! My husband is super light skinned and clearly never dealt with this but it’s such a prevalent issue!

My bf is Moreno and recently I seen a coworker I barely talk to at Walmart and this past Saturday he told another coworker he seen me and my bf and then that coworker came to me and was like “oh I heard you seen our coworker at Walmart” and I was like “yeah we just said hi and that’s it” and he goes “oh he said you were with your bf… you like morenos?” And I said “Yeah??” He then said “ like fr?” But before I can say something I got interrupted but I def felt so disgusted after that comment
