@gluteguy: I would guess that 3/4ths of my clients use this strategy when they barbell hip thrust. More men can keep the bar right above their pubic bone but women tend to rely on the forward bar push for nice they start piling on the plates. I did the math (We=W(1-d/L), not sure if it's correct though): if you have an 18 inch femur, and 500 pounds on the bar, and you move the bar 4 inches towards your knees at lockout, the bar effectively weighs about 390 pounds at lockout. So you can't say you rep anywhere near 500, but it does still seem like a good way to change the torque curve in a way that makes the stretched position harder.
