Don’t punt on those weird questions - like if you were an animal what animal would you be and why? If you were a Pixar character - which one would you be and why? If you could go back in time 5 or 10 years and tell your younger self something - what would you say? Don’t punt or get annoyed. Just have fun with it. Think of something funny or witty and just run with it. It’s meant to get to know you - catch you off guard and show them your personality. They want to see if you’re likable and if you are a team fit. I’ve seen too many people get annoyed and say I don’t know, or that’s a dumb question and refuse to answer. They do great on everything else - but will not get picked because they could not engage in the small talk and came across as too uptight and not a good fit with a group’s culture - when in reality they would’ve been just fine. Think of something funny or witty and just have fun with this question. It will make you memorable and like it or not - it’s how you get picked. I’ve seen it too many times.

💯 As I waited for my interview I had the President dip into the boardroom and we talked about paintings and I later found out the painting I liked was the same one her late mother loved. I got the job!

💯 agree! The most memorable people I have interviewed, I have 75% of the time hired. The other 25% are memorable for things not to do during an interview…lol but the rest I don’t even remember
