The filter is technically filtering cold water. I don't see a reason for it to be centered on the board between red and blue, unless you are just trying to make use of the space.

When putting in a filter like this, please please please get one from a plumbing supply store and NOT a box store. My parents had their entire basement flood because of this. Luckily they were only gone an hour. This after him always telling me not to buy cheap stuff. I always remember Mike Holmes saying, “if your going to spend your money, spend it right the first time”
