@lupitanyongo: Too often, women with fibroids are offered a hysterectomy as the first option. That's like going to the dentist with a cavity and being told to pull out all your teeth. ‼️ There are absolutely situations where full or partial removal of the uterus is the right call. But for a non-cancerous condition, it shouldn't be where we start. After 12 years with #fibroids, I can no longer wait around for change to happen around me; I want to help make it happen! That's why I started #MakeFibroidsCount: to fund a research grant for scientists seeking less-invasive and non-invasive treatments for fibroids. Join our movement and donate at MakeFibroidsCount.org - link in bio. Every dollar makes a difference. 💜 #FibroidAwareness #WomensHealth #ResearchMatters

Dr.Ally :
I had a black female Dr recommend a hysterectomy to me. I asked her about embolization or ablation and she said “well that may damage your uterus.” I responded “not more than a hysterectomy!” She got mad and started belittling me for “needing my uterus to feel like a woman.” 🙄 needless to say, I got a new doctor and had a very successful laparoscopic myomectomy. No regrets!

Y'all are worried about myomectomy when there are doctors in Nigeria telling women that getting pregnant is the best solution to getting rid of fibroids.

My insurance company denied my open myomectomy so I had it done in Colombia. 16 cm fibroid removed and my uterus was saved

I’ve done uterine fibroid embolization twice. I’m holding out for menopause. I’m a nurse so I started with conservative treatments first. My anemia and ferritin levels have resolved. Bleeding light now. Advocate for yourself ladies.

It’s so sad how under-researched women’s health is. It’s even more stressful having to constantly fight against the doctor to treat you better. Thank you for bringing awareness. 🙏😭

Not enough doctors talk about UFE as an option! Minimally invasive, covered by insurance. One week recovery. No surgical!!

They did this to me...a Black Female Doctor at that. Only to find out from my friend who is a RN they could have just removed the fibroid from my uterus. I've never been so hurt in my life. I was in so much pain I believed her. I had very good insurance and she got paid! I looked at my records and saw that she fabricated my symptoms to get it approved.

I had my hysterectomy in '22- it's not the right option for everyone, but I'm glad I did it. Women's health needs so much more attention!!

There is virtually no information on fibroid care and treatments for the general public. I am hoping your new initiative will help many who have been told that a hysterectomy is the only solution.

I just completed a UFE. The pain afterwards was crazy but it didn't last long. Less evasive than a hysterectomy and less recovery time.
