Californian here. I took a course in university from a Marxist professor about our history in Central America, which was a pattern of calling for regime change, extracting anything of value for our own benefit, and leaving the country in shambles. Freedom, our brand identity, means free-for-all, literally no rules. Nothing has changed. I'm not sure how it ever will.
