@ishineink8: Saturation doesn’t mean going deeper. Saturating just means filling in the gaps between the dots your needles are creating. You can use the same light gray — but if there are tiny gaps between each pass, it’ll look lighter and unsaturated. When people say “saturate your light grays,” they don’t mean pack it like color. They mean make it solid. Even. Intentional. It’s technique. You have to understand what your needles are doing and stay aware of exactly where they’re hitting — like a lawnmower, methodical and consistent. The more intentional your shading is, the more the image looks crafted, not accidental. Follow the muscle flow. Follow the direction of the shadow. Every pass should have purpose. That’s the difference between just shading… and creating.
